Background
Arthur Seaforth Blackburn was born in Woodville, Adelaide on 25 November 1892. Blackburn had three other siblings but was the youngest of them all. He attended Pultney Street School for two short years, attended St Peter’s College and finished his education at the University of Adelaide, graduating with a law degree. Almost to prove himself, Blackburn enlisted as a private in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) and was appointed to the 10th battalion.
